Bulletin to Members: Consultants not able to work from home eligible for COVID-19 vaccination as of Monday May 10 and Ontario enacts Paid Infectious Disease Emergency Leave program

Member firms are reminded that starting Monday May 10th, their staff whom they have identified as not being able to work from home are eligible to register for vaccination as part of the construction sector cohort identified by the Ontario Government. Those eligible for vaccination can book an appointment through the province’s vaccination portal.

In anticipation of an increase in vaccine supply the government of Ontario is accelerating the execution of its COVID-19 vaccination plan as of Friday April 30th at 8:00am.

Following its late Friday afternoon announcement of new restrictions to try and staunch the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Ford Government over the weekend published the official updated regulations providing details on what business and activities are permitted.

The Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts, is strengthening the enforcement of the province’s Stay-at-Home order while imposing new travel restrictions and further strengthening public health measures. These actions are targeted at stopping the rapid growth in COVID-19 case rates and relieving mounting pressures on the province’s health care system.

Employees of consulting engineering firms that are required to attend at essential project worksites for performance of their services or that are otherwise not able to perform their duties for these projects from home have been recognized by the Vaccination Distribution Task Force as eligible to be vaccinated as part of the construction sector cohort in the Phase 2 Second Group of Essential Workers Who Cannot Work from Home (Second Group) of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan.

Bulletin to Members: Ontario Declares Third State of Emergency and Issues 28 Day Stay-at-Home Order Effective 12:01am, Thursday April 8th – Essential Business Operations Continue

The Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts, is immediately declaring a third provincial emergency under s 7.0.1 (1) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMPCA). These measures are being taken in response to the rapid increase in COVID-19 transmission, the threat on the province’s hospital system capacity, and the increasing risks posed to the public by COVID-19 variants.
