May 1, 2020 – Toronto, ON. Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) hosted their 18th annual Ontario Consulting Engineering Awards (OCEA). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s gala was virtual, premiering on YouTube.

This year CEO celebrates its 45th year of advocating for the advancement of the business interests of their members along with promoting the value of their contributions to the social, environmental, and economic welfare of Ontario. CEO created the OCEA to recognize the dedication and the innovation advancements of their member firms within the industry.

Twelve awards were presented this year. Dillon Consulting was awarded the top honour of the night, taking home the Willis Chipman award for their Rehabilitation of the Historic Blackfriars Bridge in London, Ontario. This project involved addressing the challenge of rehabilitating a heritage bridge to give added strength while preserving aesthetic character.

Congratulations to the Awards of Distinctions winners: Morrison Hershfield for Building NX; DST Consulting Engineers for Specialized Blast Engineering: The Nanticoke Powerhouse Demolition; KGS Group for the Peter Sutherland Sr. Generation Station; WSP Canada Inc. for the Salt Cay – Airside Improvements; Wood for the Riverside Dam Class Environmental Assessment; AECOM for the Waterloo Stage 1 Light Rail Transit project and McIntosh Perry Consulting Engineers for the Reed Narrows Bridge Microbial Induced Corrosion project.

Awards of Excellence were awarded to: John G. Cooke & Associates Ltd. for Canada’s Four Corners Restoration; HDR Corporation for Lakeshore Connecting Communities; R.V. Anderson Associates Limited for the Nickel Lift Station Upgrades and Jacobs for Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant’s Phosphorus Reduction.
