ACEC-Ontario Announces the 2024 Ontario Engineering Project Awards Jury Panel

Mississauga, ON – February 22, 2024 – The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario (ACEC-Ontario) proudly announces the distinguished panel of judges for the upcoming 2024 Ontario Engineering Project Awards (OEPA).

The OEPA stands as a platform of recognition for excellence in consulting engineering within Ontario. It acknowledges the deep impact that ACEC-Ontario member companies impart upon their clients and society. On, Thursday, May 9th, 2024, at the Liberty Grand, Toronto, Ontario, the ACEC-Ontario community will come together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of their member companies.

ACEC-Ontario warmly invites our member companies to spotlight their exceptional endeavors by submitting the projects they’ve diligently worked on throughout the year for consideration in the 2024 OEPA program.

A carefully selected panel of judges has graciously lent their expertise and time to ACEC-Ontario in the involved task of evaluating submissions comprising groundbreaking projects that significantly influence our society. This group of professionals, encompassing diverse backgrounds, includes:

Alexander (Sandy) Brown: With 45 years of experience as a consultant in geotechnical and materials engineering, Sandy’s expertise and contributions to several associations underscore his exceptional career journey.

Ken Browne: A veteran in traffic engineering services and a former influential figure at the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), Ken now enjoys a rewarding venture with his wife in Port Egin, Ontario.

John Dawson: With over five decades of construction expertise, John’s role as the retired CEO of GEN-PRO and his continued involvement in the industry represent a lifetime commitment to advancing the field of construction.

John F. Thompson: With a remarkable 45+ years dedicated to municipal engineering and extensive involvement in various associations, John’s contributions and affiliations underscore his unwavering commitment to municipal development.

Tibor Turi: Holding significant experience in research, development, and industry innovation, Dr. Tibor Turi’s multifaceted background as an innovation expert and educator underscores his dedication to pushing boundaries in technology and innovation.

“This panel of experienced professionals meticulously evaluates submissions, recognizing the most impactful projects shaping our society,” stated Don Holland, Chair, ACEC-Ontario. “They volunteer many hours of their personal time to review and then come together to deliberate on the project winners. ACEC-Ontario thanks them for their dedication.”

The Ontario Engineering Project Awards commend the valuable contributions of our members to Ontario’s social, environmental, and economic welfare. It applauds the dedication and innovative strides of our member firms within the industry.
