About the York Region/ACEC-Ontario Liaison Committee

The York Region/ACEC-Ontario Liaison Committee exists to provide a forum for candid and constructive dialogue between ACEC-Ontario and the Regional Municipality of York.
The committee will identify and promote project management and business policies and practices that achieve a fair and reasonable balance between the commercial and business interests of the consulting engineering sector and the interests of the Regional Municipality of York and its ratepayers.
The committee will foster a professional and business climate that will encourage industry capacity to help deliver the Region’s infrastructure program. At this time we do not have any vacancies on this committee.
Meetings
- The Committee meets quarterly, with dates set collaboratively by representatives from both ACEC-Ontario and the Regional Municipality of York.
- Meetings are held in-person, hosted at alternating member locations.
- A quorum of eight participants (Co-Chairs, Vice-Chairs, and member representatives from both organizations) is required for meetings to proceed.
- Agenda topics are set in advance through coordination between the Chairs, Vice-Chairs, and Committee Secretary to ensure focused and productive discussions.
Key Responsibilities
Committee members are expected to:
- Attend all scheduled Liaison Committee meetings and actively participate in discussions. Members unable to attend must provide advance notice to the Committee Secretary.
- Review meeting materials in advance and be prepared to provide informed input.
- Work collaboratively with York Region representatives to address matters of mutual interest, including procurement practices, contract terms, and service delivery outcomes.
- Participate, as required, in sub-committees or working groups established to address specific issues or develop recommendations.
- Support the documentation of meeting outcomes, including action items and follow-up activities.

- Engage in meaningful dialogue with a key municipal client to improve project delivery and working relationships.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of policies, practices, and standards affecting consulting engineering services in York Region.
- Gain insight into municipal priorities, procurement approaches, and infrastructure program challenges.
- Build professional relationships with senior leaders from both ACEC-Ontario member firms and York Region staff.
- Support a collaborative and balanced business environment that benefits the consulting engineering industry and the broader community.
