ACEC-Ontario Reveals 2025 Ontario Engineering Project Awards Jury Panel to Celebrate Excellence in Consulting Engineering

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario (ACEC-Ontario) proudly unveils the 2025 jury for the Ontario Engineering Project Awards (OEPA). This annual awards program celebrates the exceptional achievements of ACEC-Ontario member firms and the vital role their projects play in enhancing our communities locally, nationally and globally.

The OEPA serves as a prestigious platform for recognizing excellence in consulting engineering across Ontario. On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Eglinton Grand in Toronto, the ACEC-Ontario community will gather to celebrate projects that embody innovation, sustainability, and significant contributions to society.

Welcoming fresh perspectives, this year’s jury panel features four returning members and two new jurors, ensuring a balanced mix of experience and different viewpoints. Together, they will dedicate their expertise and time to carefully evaluate submissions from member companies. The 2025 jury includes:

Alexander (Sandy) Brown: With 50 years of experience as a consultant in geotechnical and materials engineering, Sandy’s expertise and contributions to several associations underscore his exceptional career journey.

Ken Browne: A veteran in traffic engineering services and a former influential figure at the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), Ken now enjoys a rewarding venture with his wife in Port Elgin, Ontario.

John Dawson: With over five decades of construction expertise, John’s role as the retired CEO of GEN-PRO and his continued involvement in the industry represent a lifetime commitment to advancing the field of construction.

Stephanie Holko: Holds over 20 years of experience leading teams and projects in steel and advanced manufacturing. Stephanie is currently the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Growth at Innovation Factory, and has run funding programs in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. Stephanie is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, and is currently the Past Chair of the Board of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers.

Michael Sone: With 22+ years in transportation planning, Michael specializes in transit service and infrastructure, public consultation, accessibility, and municipal agreements. He has been at GO Transit/Metrolinx since 2004.  His prior 5 years of experience, including other areas of planning practice, spans private and public sectors. He was elected as a Director on the Ontario Professional Planners Institute’s Council in 2023.

Tibor Turi: Tibor Turi is a professional engineer with over 25 years of global innovation and design experience in the manufacturing, construction, and energy sectors. Throughout his career, Tibor specializes in bridging the gap between disruptive research and real world applications of advanced technologies by building and leading effective teams in multinational corporations, government, academia, and non-profit organizations.
