Laura Lambie, Manager of Municipal Relations at ACEC-Ontario, will present on the association’s advocacy work. The presentation will include:
- Municipal engagement within Simcoe County, and across Ontario
- Trending priorities across Ontario municipalities
- Provincial advocacy
- Ongoing and future association priorities
- Opportunities to support our work
There will also be a feature presentation by Paul Hewgill, Senior Regional Sales Manager, Tensar, a division of CMC. The presentation will include:
- Mechanical Stabilization of Aggregate Layers using Geogrids
- Subgrade stabilization for construction over soft/contaminated soils
- Asphalt pavement design using mechanically stabilized aggregate layers
- Working Platform design
- Comparing alternative geogrid solutions and assessing best value

Speaker Bio:
Paul Hewgill, C.E.T., Senior Regional Sales Manager, Tensar, a division of CMC
Paul Hewgill graduated from Humber College with a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology in 1985. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists. He has over 30 years of experience with the use of geosynthetics for a wide range of civil and geotechnical applications. Paul’s primary expertise is in the use of geogrids in roadway applications for subgrade stabilization and pavement optimization. Additional areas of expertise include: stabilization of crane pads, heavy haul roads and MSE walls & slopes.
