Please join us at the ACEC Ottawa Chapter Annual General Meeting where Peter Weltman will be presenting. Peter currently works for Technomics Inc.and is Ontario’s Former Financial Accountability Officer.  Over five years, he and his office produced ground-breaking reports that examined the cost of climate change impacts on publicly-owned infrastructure, Ontario’s economy and fiscal position, the budgetary impact of health and education programs, and dozens of others.  These reports have contributed to enhanced policy debates and enabled MPPs to better hold the government to account. Peter will provide an overview of the Costing Climate Change Impacts to Public Infrastructure (CIPI) project.

The presentation will include:

• An overview of climate change and the key impacts on publicly owned infrastructure

• the development of “climate cost elasticities” that underpin the modelling

• the results of the study showing the climate impacts on useful service life and costs of pro-active and reactive infrastructure adaptation
