Today, the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario (ACEC-Ontario) called upon all leaders, parties, and candidates in the provincial election to adopt the recommendations outlined in its newly released Engineering Ontario Forward – 2025 Ontario Policy Recommendations.

“Consulting engineering firms are not only vital to our economy but also to the communities we serve,” said Mark Tulloch, 2024-2025 Board Chair of ACEC-Ontario and CEO of TULLOCH. “These recommendations focus on fostering collaboration between industry and government to ensure that Ontario’s infrastructure investments deliver maximum benefits for Ontarians now and well into our future.”

ACEC-Ontario has identified 16 recommendations to achieve the following:

  • Deliver more projects on-time and on-budget;
  • Reduce repair costs and keep the economy moving forward;
  • Ensure a strong, diverse workforce capable of meeting Ontario’s challenges; and,
  • Protect the public interest through sustainable and innovative practices.

“Our members’ work is deeply embedded in the fabric of Ontario’s society, from designing public infrastructure to ensuring projects are environmentally and socially responsible,” said Andrew Hurd, Executive Director of ACEC-Ontario. “As the threats of tariffs and trade disruptions loom on the horizon, we need to work together to tackle Ontario’s infrastructure challenges, drive economic growth, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the consulting engineering industry.”

As ACEC-Ontario approaches its 50th anniversary in 2025, the association remains committed to advocating for the vital role its members play in building a prosperous and sustainable Ontario. The detailed Engineering Ontario Forward – 2025 Ontario Policy Recommendations can be found here.
