Matthew Eades, Vice President & General Manager, Associated Engineering

Matthew has over 30 years of consulting, engineering, and project management experience in a wide range of sectors, including municipal infrastructure, water, wastewater, institutional, buildings, and transit. His experience includes projects in Canada and the United Kingdom. Matt has expertise in capital planning, asset management and integration, and project delivery. Matthew is a chartered civil engineer in the United Kingdom, where he held senior positions at Southern Water before moving to Canada in 2011.

Annik Forristal – Head of McMillan LLP’s National Infrastructure and Construction Group

Annik is a Co-Group Head of McMillan LLP’s National Infrastructure and Construction Group whose practice is dedicated to the construction, infrastructure and development industries. A practicing engineer before becoming a lawyer, Annik provides advice and representation on project delivery, contractual allocation and management of risk, municipal land use planning and related approvals, project administration, claims management and dispute avoidance. Annik has broad experience negotiating, drafting and advising on complex construction contracts and development agreements, including custom-drafted and standard form construction contracts (such as CCDC, CCA, OAA, RAIC and ACEC). Her extensive project experience includes condominiums, university and hospital developments, entertainment facilities, industrial facilities, transportation infrastructure, and district and renewable energy installations.

Matt Miedema, Director of Engineering at the City of Thunder Bay

Matthew Miedema is the Director of Engineering at the City of Thunder Bay, where he provides strategic leadership and management for the Engineering Division.  He oversees the delivery of engineering and construction services for the City’s infrastructure and facilities assets, ensuring they meet high quality standards and sustainability. With expertise in planning, asset management, environmental studies, and project management, Matthew plays a pivotal role in shaping City wide departmental programs, services, and initiatives. He leads the Engineering, Capital Facility Construction, and Asset Management sections, guiding policy development, long term planning, and budgeting oversight. Matthew’s dedication to public service and engineering excellence has made him a key player in leading the strategic direction of the division, fostering innovation, and ensuring the City’s infrastructure needs are met.

Sabina Taylor specializes in the professional liability market, providing services to multi-national engineering companies in Ontario. She began her insurance career with AIG, underwriting directors and officers legal liability insurance for Fortune 500 companies.
